With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Johnson Thomas (70 years), affectionately known as Sam Checkadu, who departed this life peacefully on January 23, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Rowlett.

Born on November 13, 1955, in Kerala, India, Johnson was the beloved son of the late C.J. Thomas and Sosamma Thomas.

On May 15, he was united in marriage to Rosamma Johnson of the Kariyattu family, Kottarakara. Together they built a home rooted in love, faith, and family. 

 

Johnson was a devoted husband and a loving father to his three children: Shamly Johnson, Sherin Johnson, and Shiny Johnson. He also welcomed into his heart his three children‑in‑law, who became cherished members of the family.

Johnson was blessed with five grandchildren, who brought immense joy, laughter, and pride into his life. His face lit up whenever he spoke of them, and they held a very special place in his heart.

He grew up as the second child in his family, cherished by his siblings Mercy Stephen and Joyice Johnson, with whom he shared lifelong bonds of affection and support.

Johnson’s life was marked by kindness, humility, and a warm spirit that touched everyone he encountered. His gentle humor, generous heart, and steady presence made him a pillar of strength within his family and community. He carried himself with grace and lived a life defined by compassion and quiet service.

He leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of love that will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
