Helen Faye Haynes was born on March 17, 1926 at the family farm on Naaman School Road in Garland, Texas to Fannie and Sashul Haynes. She died quietly at her home on October 23, 2024 in Garland, Texas at 98 years old. She was a life long resident of Garland and a proud graduate of Garland High School. She married Frazier McCarty on April 29, 1948 at Mt. Auburn Church of Christ in Dallas, Texas.
She was employed at First National Bank of Garland as an Executive Assistant for the President, Rip Davis. She gave birth to their first son, Michael Eugene McCarty on December 15, 1949 and upon the birth of their second son, Kevin Christopher McCarty on October 23, 1956 she resigned from her position at the bank to be a full time mom. Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frasier McCarty, son, Michael Eugene McCarty, sisters, Onita Haynes McCord and Belva Jean Walvoord, nephew, Steve McCord. Helen is survived by one son, Kevin Christopher McCarty of Garland; grandchildren, Angela Elkins and husband, Jack of San Antonio, John McCarty and wife, Janet of Farmers Branch, Christopher McCarty, Ryan McCarty, Laura Elizabeth McCarty, Cody McCarty and wife, Hannah, all living near Garland, Texas; seven great-great granddaughters; Catelynn, Kayla, Kimberly, Rachel, Olivia, Zoe and Wren. Two nieces; Sheila States and Shari Crenshaw of Virginia; three nephews; Keith Walvoord of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Kyle Walvoord of McKinney and Kreg Walvoord of Rockwall.
Helen was a founding member of Eastern Hills Church of Christ in Garland, Texas. Her fondest memories were with her family at Christmas gatherings, birthdays, traveling and just being together. Helen’s greatest inspiration was her father, she described him as an honest, trustworthy, devoted family man who left their family a christan heritage. Helen would like to be remembered for he how she lived her life and her Christian influence on her family. Her fondest childhood memories were Christmas and around the fire eating popcorn was where she felt safe and loved. She said her greatest lesson in life was to never criticize others until you have been in their position.
