Evan Dees

And it was in the earliest hours on Sunday, October 13th that he ran into the arms of God Who breathed forever life into his kind, beautiful soul.
Evan Harris Grant Dees, was born in Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center on April 24, 1995 and left this earth far too early at 29 years old, on October 13, 2024.  He is survived by his two sons Liam and Isaac Dees and their mom Alexa Galvan; his parents Brent and Amy Dyer and Henry and Jenny Dees; siblings Joshua and wife Elisa, Emmaline, Ian, John, Avery, Lucas, and Sophie. Grandparents Susan Pate, Diane Morris, Jan and Ernie Dyer, Paul and Sandra Newton. Nephew Jonathan and nieces Jordyn and Zoey, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved him so much.
If there was one word to describe Evan, it would undoubtedly be love.  Early in life, it was clear how he would positively impact those who crossed his path as he had a heart for all things;  the people, the animals, and the world.  While he was the first sibling & younger brother to Joshua, at just 16 months old, Evan was enamored with his little brother, Ian, curious as to how he could help - oh how he loved him.  A few years later, his precious little sister Avery arrived - adorable and perfect in Evan’s eyes, solidifying his roll as the trio’s fierce protector.  This is not to say these musketeers were never at odds, as no sibling dynamic is perfect; but the effort of reconciliation was forever in Evan’s pocket and offered on the regular with the humble hands.  As his family of origin grew with the addition of Brent, Emma, John, & and few years later, Sophie, his youngest sister, his caring and compassionate spirit was evident then and throughout his life.  Evan, a friend to all, sought time to serve as a Boy Scout, assisted the less fortunate as much as possible, & was always looking out for opportunities to make right and do better wherever and whenever possible.
His passions were many including a great love of all genres of music - even known to DJ at gatherings and parties. He was fascinated by news anchors as a child, namely local meteorologist Troy Dungan, who he pursued and knew personally.  The Dallas Mavericks was Evan’s team, as he loved and played basketball as well as avidly rollerbladed as an inline skater. Other outdoor activities he treasured were moments he spent fishing and hunting with his Papa. Of all titles & awards Evan pursued though, fatherhood to his sons, Liam and Isaac, was & is by far his greatest accomplishment. Creating a net of love and provision was his grandest hope, and the light he leaves behind is now carried in the eyes of these boys.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00am at Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, Dallas TX 75204. Donations for his sons, Liam and Isaac Dees are welcomed. If you had the privilege of knowing Evan, the warmth he exuded undoubtedly holds a flame in your heart today.  Together, let us keep the kindling lit in the name of love and legacy for his young boys, their today and tomorrows.  Please continue to keep the Dees & Dyer family & friends in your prayers.

Peace be with you, Evan.

Condolences

My prayers for the family. I never met Evan but I know he is a staple in Avery’s life. She and I met when we were 5 & 6 in gymnastics class at the white rock YMCA. and ever since then she has been a very special person in my life that I cherish. Words cannot express the pain you are feeling but my mind and heart is with you all right now. May God protect you all. Let me know if there’s anything I can do.
